COMER ANNOUNCES CONGRESSIONAL FIELD BRIEFING IN EDDYVILLE

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman James Comer (KY-01) will hold an Oversight and Government Reform Committee Field Briefing in Eddyville, Kentucky on July 27, 2018. The hearing will address the growing problem of Asian carp in Kentucky’s waters and examine the federal response to this invasive species. This public event will feature testimony from witnesses representing the Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife, local fishing and tourism industries, and federal agencies involved in Asian carp programs and initiatives.

“Over the past several months, I have become increasingly concerned about the threat posed by Asian carp to the local ecosystem, fishing and tourism industries, and individuals out on the water. This event is an opportunity to draw attention to the crisis and consider ways to improve coordination between the federal government, states, and local entities on this important issue. I am committed to working with my constituents and communities in the First District to promote solutions that will protect and restore our rivers, lakes and reservoirs,” said Congressman James Comer.

“Asian Carp have invaded Kentucky and Barkley Lakes and put our fishing and tourism industries in jeopardy. We must take action and solve this problem. Congressman James Comer has committed to doing everything he can to solve this problem in our lakes and rivers in Kentucky and Tennessee. I appreciate all Congressman Comer is doing and how quickly he is moving on the war on carp. I look forward to working with him to protect our waters in Kentucky and Tennessee,” said Wade White, Lyon County Judge Executive.
